and then of course grace asks how she compares to her ama ("was she also really good at yelling at people?") and talk about how as people who run businesses they have to be honest and hardworking. and by extension the integrity of taiwanese people (they are not not secure in their identities) and probably for a specific generation especially it's taiwan all day and politics are by necessity everything. i can't land this plane tonight, i'm just pondering how they just litigate over and over what it means to be a good human and i spend all day thinking about characters.
