the gospel according to jigsaw puzzles. 11/11/10

- sometimes looking at the pieces you have help you see what holes you can fill.

- you can’t just dwell on one piece you’re missing because there’s so many others that need to be completed/found.

- some are the pieces are really boring but all of them are essential.

- if you don’t focus on the whole picture, not just individual pieces - anything less is paralysis.

- trust that the pieces fit the way they’re supposed to, not the way you want them to.

- celebrate when a piece does fit.

- sort the relevant pieces together so when it’s time for them to come together, there they are.

- not only look at what’s actually on the piece, see how it is shaped so you know how it fits. that is, boundaries and edges matter.

- some people start with the corner pieces and others start with where they are. love them anyway.

- step back and take a breather. instinct is to move closer to find the next piece, but that rarely ever happens. sometimes things are just sitting aside waiting for me to fit them together.

- she said that it’s great that we’re doing this as opposed to watching tv...and turning our brains to mush :)
